BECOME A “MYSTERY DESTINATION”
   

The Backyard Excursions’ “Mystery Destination” contest began in Spring 2008 and has become an overnight hit with our readers. We receive entries daily; some readers submitting guesses over and over again.

How it works
Each quarter we begin a new contest which runs for three months. Each week, we post a new clue and photo to help our readers locate the mystery destination. (Click on Pete at right to see the current contest - you will be directed to the Backyard Excursions website).

Each clue and photo highlights something the mystery destination has to offer visitors. Readers are encouraged to use the Travel Guide and website to identify the mystery destination based on these clues!

At the end of the contest, the winner is announced and a new contest begins.

 

Would you like to be a Mystery Destination?
This is an excellent opportunity to promote your destination. Each clue we provide tells our readers something about what you have to offer visitors. Upon announcing the winner, your company name and details of the prize package is repeated.

If your destination is selected to participate, you will be asked to provide us with 12 clues and 12 photos to go with the clues to post on the website. We also ask that you provide a gift certificate to present to the winner which includes (at minimum):

  • One night accommodation for a family of four.
  • Breakfast for family of four.
  • Dinner for family of four.
  • Free admission coupons/tickets to your destination (if applicable) or a local area attraction for family of four.

This gift certificate will be sent to the winner of the contest. The prize redemption must be valid for one year from date of drawing. Restrictions and black out dates may apply, but should be clearly outlined so that we can list them on the contest page.

At the conclusion of the contest, we will forward to you a list of all contest entries including name, address, phone and email address (if provided.) We suggest that, if possible, you send them a small token of appreciation (a discount coupon is suggested).

Please note: You must have a contract in force for a minimum of a 1/4 page display advertisement in the current issue of the Backyard Excursions Travel Guide to be eligible to participate.
